You can request account deletion from your Personal Dashboard settings. Under GDPR, Uniplaces must delete your personal data within 30 days of a valid deletion request.
How to request account deletion
- Log in to your Uniplaces account and go to your Personal Dashboard.
- Click Account settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Delete my account.
- Confirm the deletion request — you may be asked to enter your password to verify your identity.
- Submit the request.
You’ll receive a confirmation email acknowledging your deletion request. The process is completed within 30 days, as required by GDPR.
What if a step doesn’t work?
- Delete option not visible — you may have an active booking or pending payment. Resolve any open bookings first, then request deletion.
- Request not going through — contact the Uniplaces support team directly and request account deletion by email. They’ll process it manually.
What data is deleted?
When your account is deleted, Uniplaces removes the following personal data:
- Your name, email address and profile information
- Your booking history and communication records
- Saved payment methods
- Any personal preferences and account settings
What is retained?
Not all data can be deleted immediately. Financial and legal records are retained for the period required by law — typically 7–10 years depending on the country. This includes transaction records, invoices and any documentation required for tax or legal compliance purposes.
This retention is required by European financial regulations and is not optional — it applies regardless of your deletion request.
How long does it take?
Uniplaces is required to complete account deletion within 30 days of receiving a valid request under GDPR. In practice, most deletions are processed faster than this. You’ll receive a confirmation once your account has been fully deleted.
Can you reopen a deleted account?
No — once your account is deleted, it cannot be restored. Your booking history, saved listings and all personal data are permanently removed. If you want to use Uniplaces again in the future, you’ll need to create a new account from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete my account if I have an active booking?
It’s not recommended to delete your account while you have an active booking — you’ll lose access to your booking details, documents and the ability to contact your landlord through the platform. Complete or cancel your booking first, then request deletion.
What if I just want to stop receiving emails from Uniplaces?
You don’t need to delete your account to stop emails. Go to Account settings in your Personal Dashboard and update your notification preferences to reduce or stop marketing emails. You can always reactivate them later.
Is my data shared with third parties before deletion?
Uniplaces processes your data in accordance with its Privacy Policy and GDPR obligations. Your data is not sold to third parties. For full details on how your data is handled, refer to the Uniplaces Terms & Conditions for Tenants.
Can I request a copy of my data before deleting my account?
Yes — under GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of all personal data Uniplaces holds about you before deletion. Contact the support team to make a data subject access request before submitting your deletion request.
