You can request account deletion from your dashboard settings. Under GDPR, Uniplaces must delete your personal data within 30 days of a valid deletion request.
How to request account deletion
- Log in to your Uniplaces account and go to your Personal Dashboard.
- Click Account settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Delete my account.
- Confirm the deletion request — you may be asked to enter your password to verify your identity.
- Submit the request.
You’ll receive a confirmation email acknowledging your deletion request. The process is completed within 30 days, as required by GDPR.
What if a step doesn’t work?
- Delete option not visible — you may have an active booking or pending payment. Resolve any open bookings first, then request deletion.
- Request not going through — contact the Uniplaces support team directly and request account deletion. They’ll process it manually.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, Uniplaces removes the following personal data:
- Your name, email address and profile information
- Your booking history and communication records
- Saved payment methods
- Any personal preferences and account settings
- Profile photos and bio
What is retained
Not all data can be deleted immediately. Financial and legal records are retained for the period required by law — typically 7–10 years depending on the country. This includes transaction records, invoices and documentation required for tax or legal compliance.
This retention is required by European financial regulations and applies regardless of your deletion request.
How long does it take?
Uniplaces must complete account deletion within 30 days of receiving a valid request under GDPR. In practice, most deletions are processed faster. You’ll receive a confirmation once your account has been fully deleted.
Can you create a new account after deletion?
Yes — you can create a new Uniplaces account after deletion using the same or a different email address. However, your previous booking history, reviews and account data will not be recoverable. If you’re considering deletion but might want to return, consider simply deactivating your account or updating your notification preferences instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete my account if I have an active booking?
It’s not recommended — deleting your account while you have an active booking means you’ll lose access to your booking details, documents and the ability to contact your landlord or tenant through the platform. Complete or cancel all active bookings before requesting deletion.
What if I just want to stop receiving marketing emails?
You don’t need to delete your account to stop marketing emails. Go to Account settings in your Personal Dashboard and update your notification preferences. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails while keeping your account active.
Can I request a copy of my data before deleting?
Yes — under GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of all personal data Uniplaces holds about you before requesting deletion. Contact the support team to make a data subject access request first.
Can a deleted account be recovered?
No — once your account is deleted, it cannot be restored. All personal data, booking history and profile information are permanently removed. Create a new account from scratch if you want to use Uniplaces again.
