You can request account deletion from your Personal Dashboard settings, whether you use Uniplaces as a tenant or as a landlord. Uniplaces deletes your personal data within one month of a valid request, as required by GDPR (this can be extended in complex cases). Deleting your account does not cancel a confirmed booking or release you from its obligations — complete or cancel any open booking first.
Before you delete: check your bookings
Deleting your account does not cancel a confirmed booking, and it does not release you from the obligations that come with it. If you have a booking you no longer want, cancel it first:
- Tenants — cancel under the listing’s cancellation policy. Your first rental payment is refunded according to that policy, measured from the contract start date; the Uniplaces service fee is never refunded when you cancel. See What Is the Uniplaces Cancellation Policy?
- Landlords — if you have a Uniplaces Rent Guarantee package (the Essential Package) active on a listing, deleting your account does not end it. The subscription is ended through your dashboard with 90 days’ notice — do this before you request deletion.
Deleting your account while a booking is active also means you lose access to your booking details, documents and the ability to contact your landlord or tenant through the platform.
How to request account deletion
- Log in to your Uniplaces account and go to your Personal Dashboard.
- Click Account settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Delete my account.
- Confirm the deletion request — you may be asked to enter your password to verify your identity.
- Submit the request.
You will receive a confirmation email acknowledging your deletion request, and another once your account has been fully deleted.
What if a step doesn’t work?
- Delete option not visible — you may have an active booking or pending payment. Resolve any open bookings first, then request deletion.
- Request not going through — contact the Uniplaces support team and request account deletion by email. They will process it manually.
What gets deleted
When your account is deleted, Uniplaces removes the following personal data:
- Your name, email address and profile information
- Your booking history and communication records (the financial records behind past bookings are retained — see below)
- Saved payment methods
- Any personal preferences and account settings
- Profile photos and bio
What is retained
Not all data can be deleted immediately. Financial and legal records are retained for the period required by law. This includes transaction records, invoices and any documentation required for tax or legal compliance. This retention applies regardless of your deletion request. For full details on how your data is handled, see the Uniplaces Privacy Policy.
How long does it take?
Uniplaces completes account deletion within one month of receiving a valid request, as required by GDPR. This period can be extended in complex cases; if that happens, you will be told. In practice, most deletions are processed faster. You will receive a confirmation once your account has been fully deleted.
Can you create a new account after deletion?
Yes — you can create a new Uniplaces account after deletion using the same or a different email address. However, your previous booking history, reviews and account data will not be recoverable. If you are considering deletion but might want to return, consider simply deactivating your account or updating your notification preferences instead.
When to contact Uniplaces support
- The Delete my account option is not visible and you have no open bookings
- Your deletion request is not going through
- You want a copy of your personal data before deleting your account
- You have a confirmed booking and are not sure how to cancel it before deletion
Frequently asked questions
Can I delete my account if I have an active booking?
It is not recommended. Deleting your account does not cancel the booking or its obligations — for tenants, that means the tenancy and any payments due to the landlord; for landlords, that means providing the accommodation as booked. It also means you lose access to your booking details, documents and the ability to contact your landlord or tenant through the platform. Complete or cancel all active bookings before requesting deletion. If you cancel as a tenant, the listing’s cancellation policy applies and the service fee is not refunded.
I’m a landlord with a Rent Guarantee package — can I just delete my account?
Deleting your account does not end the package. A Rent Guarantee package subscription is ended through your dashboard with a minimum of 90 days’ notice, by either party (Terms of Service 12.13) — end the subscription before you request account deletion.
What if I just want to stop receiving marketing emails?
You do not need to delete your account to stop marketing emails. Go to Account settings in your Personal Dashboard and update your notification preferences, or ask to be opted out through the Help Center contact form. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails while keeping your account active, and you can switch them back on later.
Is my data shared with third parties before deletion?
Uniplaces processes your data in accordance with its Privacy Policy and GDPR obligations. Your data is not sold to third parties. For full details on how your data is handled, refer to the Uniplaces Privacy Policy.
Can I request a copy of my data before deleting?
Yes — under GDPR, you have the right to request a copy of the personal data Uniplaces holds about you. Contact the support team to make a data subject access request before submitting your deletion request.
Can a deleted account be recovered?
No — once your account is deleted, it cannot be restored. Your personal data, booking history, saved listings and profile information are permanently removed. Create a new account from scratch if you want to use Uniplaces again.
