Creating a Uniplaces account is free and takes under two minutes: sign up with your email address or Google account, verify your email and complete your profile. You don’t add any payment details until you send a booking request, and nothing is charged until a landlord accepts it. By registering, you accept the Uniplaces Terms of Service.
Step 1 — Go to Uniplaces and click Sign up
Go to Uniplaces and click Sign up in the top right corner of the page.
Step 2 — Enter your email address or continue with Google
Enter your email address, or click Continue with Google to sign up with your Google account.
Step 3 — Verify your email address
Check your inbox for a verification email from Uniplaces and click the link inside. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive within a few minutes.
Step 4 — Complete your profile
Add your name and a short bio about yourself.
That’s it. Your account is ready and you can start searching for accommodation straight away.
What if a step doesn’t work?
- Verification email not arriving — check your spam or junk folder first. If it’s not there after 5 minutes, go back to the sign-up page and request a new verification email.
- Google sign-up not working — try signing up with your email address directly instead. If the issue continues, clear your browser cache and try again.
If neither of these fixes works, contact the Uniplaces support team directly.
Why complete your profile?
Before a landlord accepts your booking request, they can see your profile — your name and the short bio you’ve written about yourself.
A complete profile builds trust. Landlords are more likely to accept requests from tenants who have introduced themselves. Keep it simple: who you are, why you’re moving to the city, and when you need the accommodation. Two or three sentences is enough, especially if you’re a student moving to a new country for the first time.
What you agree to when you create an account
When you register, you accept the Uniplaces Terms of Service. Three points are worth knowing from the start:
- Cooling-off period. As a consumer, you have a legal right to cancel your agreement with Uniplaces — the agreement to use the Uniplaces service, not a booking — within 14 days of first accepting the Terms of Service. You lose this right once a landlord accepts a booking request you have sent; from that point the service fee is payable and the cancellation policy of the listing applies instead.
- Legal age. To book, you must be of legal age to sign a tenancy agreement in the country where the accommodation is located. If you book without meeting this requirement, Uniplaces may keep the service fee.
- Keep your login details confidential. Don’t share your password, and contact support if you think someone else has accessed your account.
When you will pay, and what
You are only asked for payment details when you send a booking request. At that point you provide payment details for the first rental payment, the Uniplaces service fee — a percentage of the first rental payment — and, where the listing has one, a holding deposit (a payment that reserves the accommodation for you — not a damages deposit). A temporary authorisation is placed on your card, but the payment is only taken once the landlord accepts your request. If the request is declined or expires (the landlord has 48 hours to respond), nothing is charged and the authorisation is released by your bank.
Any other payment stated on the listing — the security deposit, an admin fee, rent paid in advance, rent from the second month onwards — is paid directly to your landlord once your booking is confirmed, never through Uniplaces. Any payment to your landlord is legitimate as long as it is stated on the listing you booked and your booking is already confirmed. If it isn’t on the listing, or the amount is higher, contact Uniplaces support before paying.
When to contact Uniplaces support
- Your verification email doesn’t arrive after requesting it again
- Google sign-up fails and email sign-up doesn’t work either
- You can’t access an existing account and the password reset doesn’t help
- You think someone else has used your account
Frequently asked questions
Is it free to create a Uniplaces account?
Yes — creating an account and searching listings is free. You only provide payment details when you send a booking request, and you are only charged — the first rental payment, the Uniplaces service fee and any holding deposit — when the landlord accepts it.
Can I use one account to book in multiple cities?
Yes. Your Uniplaces account works across all cities and countries where the platform operates. You can search and book in any city from the same account.
Do I need to verify my identity to create an account?
You don’t need to verify your identity to create an account or browse listings. Some landlords may ask for further information — such as references or a guarantor — before accepting your booking request; this varies by listing, and you’ll be told if it applies.
Is there an age requirement?
You can create an account to browse, but to book you must be of legal age to sign a tenancy agreement in the country where the accommodation is located.
Can I sign up with a university email address?
Yes — any valid email address works, including university email addresses. If you later lose access to that email, you can update it from your Personal Dashboard.
Can I have more than one Uniplaces account?
No — each person should have one account. If you’re having trouble accessing your existing account, use the password reset option or contact support.
