Rent Collection automates monthly payments from your tenant through Uniplaces. You receive each month’s rent on a fixed date — no chasing tenants for payment.
What is Rent Collection?
Rent Collection is a Uniplaces feature that automates the monthly rent payment process. Instead of relying on your tenant to transfer rent manually each month, Uniplaces charges their card automatically on the payment due date and transfers the amount directly to your bank account.
It’s designed to save landlords time, eliminate late payments and provide a clear, transparent record of all transactions in one place.
How it works
Once Rent Collection is activated on your listing, the process runs automatically every month:
- On the tenant’s payment due date, Uniplaces charges the agreed rent amount from the tenant’s saved payment method
- The amount is transferred to your registered bank account
- Both you and the tenant receive a payment confirmation
- The transaction is recorded in your Personal Dashboard under the booking’s payment history
You can see a full overview of all payments — paid, upcoming and scheduled — from the Confirmed Bookings section of your dashboard at any time.
How to enable Rent Collection
Rent Collection is activated per listing, not per booking. To enable it:
- Go to your Personal Dashboard and select Listings — Published
- Find the listing you want to activate it for and click Edit
- Go to the Contract & Conditions section
- Enable Rent Collection from the options available
- Save your changes
Once enabled, Rent Collection applies to all future bookings for that listing. Tenants will see the automated payment schedule during checkout before confirming their booking.
What if the tenant misses a payment?
If a Rent Collection payment fails, Uniplaces sends notifications to both you and the tenant immediately. The tenant is given a short window to resolve the issue — typically by updating their payment method or ensuring sufficient funds are available.
If the payment remains unresolved, contact the Uniplaces support team. Do not contact the tenant directly to demand payment — Uniplaces mediates all payment disputes through the platform. See My Tenant Hasn’t Paid Rent — What Should I Do? for the full process.
Benefits vs manual collection
- No late payments — rent is charged automatically on the due date, not when the tenant remembers
- Full payment history — every transaction is recorded in your dashboard with status and dates
- Less admin — no need to chase tenants, send reminders or reconcile manual transfers
- Tenant transparency — tenants can see their full payment schedule from the start, reducing disputes
Frequently asked questions
Is Rent Collection available for all listings?
Rent Collection is available to selected landlords on Uniplaces. If the option isn’t visible in your listing’s Contract & Conditions section, contact the support team to find out whether it’s available for your account.
Can a tenant opt out of Rent Collection?
Rent Collection is set at the listing level by the landlord. If it’s enabled on your listing, the tenant sees this during checkout. Contact the support team if you need to discuss specific arrangements for a particular booking.
When exactly is rent transferred to my account?
Rent is transferred to your bank account after Uniplaces collects it from the tenant on the due date. Transfer timing depends on your bank — typically 1–3 business days after collection. Uniplaces does not release payments during weekends.
Does Rent Collection cover the security deposit?
No — the security deposit is always paid directly by the tenant to you on move-in day. Rent Collection only manages monthly rent payments.
