Located outside the city centre, there’s the residential neighbourhood of Olaias. The neighbourhood constructed at the end of the 20th century has colourful buildings. Here you will find cafes, hair-salons and groceries stores, with all you may need. There is also Olaias Shopping centre where you will find products that don’t exist in smaller shops. If you prefer something more traditional, the local market is the perfect place to go to get fresh fruit. This is a popular area due to its proximity to Alameda and Instituto Superior Técnico. Connected to the city’s metro grid, Olaias metro station has received several international awards for its beauty and colourful motifs.
