Miragaia is a colourful neighbourhood built near the Douro River. This medieval neighbourhood was built on the beach during the Discoveries Era. Nowadays the colourful quirky houses built over arches give the neighbourhood its personality. Miragaia is the place to be to truly experience the city, filled with both locals and tourists.
As the sun goes down, Miragaia’s restaurants and bars open. Here you can quietly have dinner or enjoy a drink with some friends while enjoying the beautiful views of the river and of the rest of the city.
Many tourists walk around the streets of Miragaia during the summer. For the rest of the year, local families live in here.
The views over the river in the middle of the colourful houses form a magical scene.
Church of São Pedro, where, for centuries, were saved the relics of St. Pantaleon of Nicomedia brought to Portugal after the fall of Constantinople.
After the sun goes down, choose a nice cafe and head to the river.
You can check your booking details — such as your booking ID, official move-in and move-out dates, landlord contact information, cancellation policy, and other rental conditions — on the booking confirmation email we sent you or on your Personal Dashboard.
To access your Personal Dashboard, log in to your Uniplaces account, click on your name on the top right-hand side of your screen, and click on "Booking requests".
This is where you can find everything about your booking.
The first month's rent is paid directly to Uniplaces and is transferred to your landlord 24 hours after you move in. After that, your monthly rent has to be paid directly to your landlord.
Remember that you also need to pay a security deposit and admin fee (if applicable) directly to your landlord on the day you check in.
Please get in touch with your landlord to agree on how you're going to pay your monthly rent.
Uniplaces strives to make sure the photos and information you see in our listings accurately represent what you will find when you arrive in your new home. We created the 24-hour safety period to protect our students and to make sure they are compensated in case something goes wrong.
In the unlikely and unfortunate event of arriving only to find a place that looks completely different from the one you booked, or if it has different conditions from the ones that were included in the listing, please let us know within 24 hours of your move-in date so we can investigate and withhold the rent transfer to the landlord.
Are you having a problem with your move-in?
We’re very sorry that you’re having an issue with your move-in. If you’re still within the first 24 hours of your official move-in date, you can easily file a complaint on your dashboard. Simply follow these steps:
We will answer you back as soon as possible to help you in any way we can.
Important: Please keep in mind that we can only help you within the 24 hours of your move-in date, so it is essential that you report your issue within this time. After these 24 hours, your first rent is transferred to your landlord, and you won't be able to receive a refund.
Tip: Make sure to collect evidence (photos and videos) to support your complaint, as we will request it at a later stage. Also, try to discuss your issue with your landlord before filing a complaint so they are given the opportunity to fix it.

Sometimes a booking might be cancelled unexpectedly. It may be related to your landlord or to the place you booked. Whatever the reason, you will be notified of the cancellation immediately.
If either your landlord or Uniplaces cancels your booking, you will be fully refunded, including the first month's rent, the Uniplaces service fee, and any deposit you may have paid. Depending on your payment method and bank account, the amount you paid should reach your bank account within 10 business days.
You might be contacted by a Uniplaces agent to help you find a new place. We will suggest similar places to the one you booked and make sure they match your original preferences.
In case no other similar place is available for the dates you selected, try editing your preferences. The less limited they are, the more likely you are to find a great place!
