The neighbourhood was named after the famous bridge of Sant'Angelo. The bridge was build to link the mausoleum Sant'Angelo’s castle to the rest of the city. It is beautifully decorated with Bernini’s statues, attracting thousands of tourists that came to contemplate its architecture and the stunning views over the river. Ponte is full of history. The neighbourhood has many cultural points worth a visit such as Santa Maria della Pace church, the Napoleonic Museum or the Monte Vecchio plaza. Built in a central area, alongside the River, Ponte has a prime location. The neighbourhood has many tourists passing by on a daily basis as they go from the Vatican to the historical centre.
