Shadwell is a convenient neighbourhood. Far enough from London's city centre for affordable rents, it still has night bus connections, restaurants representing several cultures and plenty of convenience stores. It's generally quiet and safe. This neighbourhood has a growing community of young artists, students and musicians. Art galleries, vintage shops, and street artists are popping up. Housing in Shadwell is a little cheaper than in the surrounding areas. It's proximity to the business district of Docklands does mean that rents are rising but you can often find properties for as little as £150-£170 a week including bills; with some rooms costing as little as £100-£120 a week. Not terrible prices for London. Most properties are in shared terraced townhouses, alongside new-build and high-rise options or converted warehouses. Living in Shadwell is convenient for studying at Greenwich University, Queen Mary University, Goldsmiths, London Metropolitan University or for commuting to universities in the centre. In terms of transport, it is connected to the wider city by Shadwell Station (DLR/Overground)
