Gärtnerplatz District
This hip district is full of trendy bars, cafés, and restaurants so you can pick whatever fits your mood on the fly. Gärtnerplatz was named after famous architect Friedrich von Gärtner who played a pivotal role in the resurgence of the district, turning it into a bustling nighttime destination. Night owls can enjoy everything from musical theatre to heavy techno here, as young and old come together somewhere in between the lush gardens of the neighbourhood.
Falk's Bar
The Baroque decor and hall of mirrors in Falk's Bar are the only original features that remain of Hotel Bayerischer Hof, most of which were destroyed during the second world war. The cocktails and long drinks here are expertly crafted by the all-knowing bar staff who can mix together just about anything. Once guests have enjoyed a drink or two in the bar, they can either move on to the adjoining cinema room or the roof terrace upstairs.
Milla
Milla Club stands out for its intimate atmosphere and eclectic music lineup, from rock to jazz. Once a river conduit, it's now a go-to spot in Munich for live bands, a friendly crowd, and quality sound.
Pusser's
The so-called 'Cradle of American bar culture in Germany' has been serving up its signature PUSSER’S PAINKILLER™ since 1974 to thirsty customers who are looking to relax in the ambiance of Pusser's authentic, cultured establishment. Live piano music here goes very nicely with the drinks menu and the spicy bar food is a consistent classic with the old heads who frequent the bar. Do a deep dive into the history of Pusser's 300 year old rum business to gain insight into how their recipe has evolved through the years.
Zephyr
Bring a camera to capture this picturesque cocktail lab in all its glory whilst sipping on a refreshing blend of colourful ingredients that taste as good as they look. Zephyr is a chic, exclusive joint that may cost a bit more than other bars in the area but most people who have been there can agree that it is worth the extra few euros (cash only here). The staff are a breath of fresh air as well which just makes the experience so much more palatable.
Schumann's
Definitely one of the more exclusive bars in Munich, Schumann's prides itself in mixology and unique cocktails that have become a mainstay of the beautiful Hofgarten area. Inside there is enough space for an entire colony to enjoy the mellow tones that seep out of the stereo. Ambiance here is top notch but be sure to make a reservation as it is often fully booked early in the evening.
