Fassbender
Fassbender, located between Hohe Straße and the Historic Town Hall, is one of the oldest café in Cologne. Its beautiful interiors are decorated in the style of the 1950s. Cakes and desserts are their speciality.

Café Central is a small café with a big breakfast menu that includes pancakes, croissants and bagels as wells as eggs with avocado or bacon, toast and juice. They also have lunch options consisting of few hot and cold dishes that change everyday.

Café Sehnsucht has been an institution in Cologne for 30 years. This ecologically certified café's search for regional and organic ingredients is praiseworthy. Moreover, they make their own jam and chocolate cream for the breakfast and bake their own bread and cakes.
Miss Päpki
Miss Päpki is a quaint little café in the Belgian Quarter. They have tables both inside and outside, with vintage chairs painted white. They serve German breakfast, homemade cakes, salads, quiches, hot beverages and healthy juices.
Salon Schmitz
At Salon Schmitz in the Belgian Quarter you'll find sweet and savoury breakfast options, hot dishes, salads, quiches, cakes and ice cream. The café is located in an old building once occupied by a butcher's shop, and has a decor inspired by the design aesthetic of the 1950s and 60s.
The Coffee Gang
The Coffee Gang is a speciality coffee shop and brew bar that focuses on offering high-quality, fair traded coffee in a variety of ways. It has two stylish locations in town, where you'll also find sandwiches and cakes baked in-house.
Schamong Kaffee
Shamong Kaffee in the Ehrenfeld district is a bit outside of the city centre, but Cologne's oldest coffee roastery might be worth the journey. All their coffee is fair trade and roasted using traditional methods, and its unique flavour is the product of more than 60 years of experience in the field.
Cafecafe
Cafecafe offers a big variety of sandwiches, bagels and homemade cakes, along with bowls and salads, international breakfast options, fresh smoothies and hot or cold beverages. They also have vegan and vegetarian options.
Funkhaus
The centrally located Funkhaus is a café, bar and restaurant all in one. There is plenty of seating inside, and during the summer they open a big outdoor terrace with a view of the Cologne Cathedral. Hearty German breakfast options are served everyday until midday. Afterwards, you can browse through the regular menu, where you'll find specialities like curry wurst and lentil soup, or have a sweet treat like a brownie or a slice of apple pie. There are a few vegan and vegetarian options.
Café Hibiskus
Café Hibiskus in the Old Town serves only vegan food and beverages. Here you'll find cakes, cupcakes, brownies, other sweet treats and a few savoury snacks, all prepared with fresh regional ingredients. Some raw options are available.
