Berlin is not only the capital and largest city of Germany, but also a perfect place to live as a student. With over 60 universities and colleges, Berlin is a magnet for students, both university and doctoral degrees. The Humboldt University is one of the most important and has three campuses in Berlin: Mitte, North and Adlershof.  Mitte Campus  The central campus is located on the boulevard Unter den Linden and houses the faculties of studies of Humanities and Social Sciences, in addition to the Law Faculty. Near the market of Hackescher is also the Business Faculty.

Mitte is probably the most expensive area of Berlin but accommodation for students in this district is very affordable. The Wedding district is somewhat further away from the university, although very well connected, and is also affordable for living. The best way to get to the university is by bus (lines 100, 200, N2 or TXL), which stop at Staatsoper. You can also go on trams 12 or M1. The U9 and the regional train leave you in Friedrichstrasse.  

North Campus  

The North campus is located on Luisenstrasse, between the main station and the Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse. It houses the Faculty of Biological Sciences, where Biology, Psychology and Agricultural Sciences have classes, as well as the Charite Campus Mitte.

Here there is a stop, where you can get on buses 147 or TXL. Trams 12 or M5 leave you at Oranienburger Tor and Berlin Friedrichstrasse (train and metro station) is within walking distance of the campus. To the train station you can reach by tram (lines S1, S2, S5, S, S25 or S75), or underground line 6.  

Adlershof Campus  

The Adlershof campus is located in the district with the same name, in the south-east of Berlin. Here are the faculties of Mathematics and Sciences, as well as the Faculty of Food Sciences. If you study in this area, Neukölln is the best place to look for accommodation, since from Neukölln station to Adlershof it only takes 12 minutes.

The campus is located in Erwin-Schrödinger-Zentrum, about a 12-minute walk away. You can also go to another stop on the campus, Magnusstraße, with trams 61 and 63 or buses 162, 164 or N60. Trams 61 and 63 stop at Karl-Ziegler-Straße and bus 163 leaves you at Hans-Schmidt-Straße.  

There are numerous areas in Berlin to look for accommodation. The most popular among students for being affordable are Wedding, Neukölln and Kreuzberg. Trendy neighborhoods like Prenzlauer Berg, Friedrichshain and Mitte are good options, although the rents are quite higher.
