Martim Moniz is a neighbourhood that's proud to be multicultural. It mixes everything: a vibrant Chinese culture, several Asian influences and all the colours of Africa with the heart of typical Lisbon. Martim Moniz square basically celebrates the multiculture and it's exactly that vibe that brings people here. It's very cool. Around, you'll find the most alternative bar in the city ("Anos 60"), a trendy rooftop spot ("Topo") and a dozen of clandestine Chinese restaurants where you basically eat typical Chinese cuisine in a family's living room. Except for the main square (Martim Moniz, right in the middle of the neighbourhood) everything is in little alleys and staircase. It's really close to the city centre (walking distance) and you have a metro station to get around. Trams, buses and cabs are plentiful at the square and in other nearby spots: Avenida Almirante Reis, Praça da Figueira and Rossio.
