New Sorbonne University (Paris III)

Paris, France

La Sorbonne, as it is usually called, is the New Sorbonne University (Paris III). Although it has its own main building near the 13th Arr., it also shares the old Sorbonne building with the Paris I and Paris IV universities - thus the nickname La Sorbonne for all three. The university specialised in the fields of Arts and Humanities. Formerly part of the old University of Paris, La Sorbonne became an independent university in 1968, when, during a cultural revolution in Paris, several faculties seceded from their parent university. Each of these newly-founded independent universities was already specialised in a certain field, which led to each being renown for that particular field. La Sorbonne's main building is right in the heart of Paris, so the Parisian life is always an intricate part of students' life. There are however other campuses around Paris. Plus, all students under 25 have free entrance to all permanent exhibitions at Parisian museums. To get to Paris III, just catch the metro to Censier - Daubenton station, on line 7. If you prefer the bus, just take one of the following: 27, 47, 67, 91. Photo Credits: NonOmnisMoriar - Wikimedia Commons

Paris

About the city

The river, the museums, the cuisine, the Eiffel Tower - studying in Paris is an unforgettable adventure. Not to mention all the croissants, baguettes and pains au chocolat you can have to cure your hangover after a French wine-fuelled night out along the Seine.

In Paris, students get a chance to enrich themselves culturally like nowhere else in the world. Every first Sunday of the month, most state-run museums are free for students. However, you’ll have to practice your French while you’re here, as the Parisians much prefer you to address them in their native language.

You can be sure of one thing: after your semester in Paris, you will have fallen in love with the city of love!
