Vitória is an ancient neighbourhood in the city of Porto. The neighbourhood, along with three others, comprises an area considered a World Heritage site by UNESCO. There is history and beauty everywhere. You will be entering the historic centre of Porto with many museums and monuments to see. Many of Porto’s heritage buildings are in Vitória, the most recognisable being Clérigos Tower. The baroque bell tower is a popular monument. The view once in the top of the tower is marvellous. The neighbourhood is a main choice for students coming to study at Porto’s University (located a few steps away from the Clérigos Tower). Here you can enjoy the company of friends at the João Chagas Garden after a day full of classes.
The neighbours are older people who have lived here their entire lives and have seen the neighbourhood transform in a spot with international relevance, flooding with tourists.
The Clérigos Tower is one of the most characteristic symbols of the city.
From Vitória you can walk to almost every historical sight in Porto.
There is always something happening in the historical centre of the city both by day and night. It is the centre of all events.
Porto is a city with character. Studying in Porto is all about living and loving that work-hard, party-hard spirit. From the welcoming weeks (so-called Praxe) to celebrating graduation at the Queima das Fitas, student traditions embrace this.
Eat the best sandwich in the world - the Francesinha - try the famous local Port wine, and enjoy the student spots such as Ribeira and Piolho with your friends, or just meeting new people.
If you’re going to study here, we have apartments in Porto for Erasmus and other international students.
