Ilford

London, United Kingdom

Redbridge is a leafy suburb, full of parks and open spaces. It is only sort of in London: This borough of greater London is usually considered to be Essex. A lot of people live in Redbrige: the area has the population size of some of UK’s cities. Rental prices are thankfully lower in Redbridge, as it is out in the suburbs. The range of properties is massive in the area but expect a mix of Victorian and Georgian terraced properties, alongside 1960s and 70s blocks of flats and some modern apartments. As Redbridge is quite far from out you can expect an hour or so commute into the centre for most of London's major universities. The University of East London's Stratford Campus is easily accessible by train, as is Queen Mary University in East London itself. Redbridge is connected to the wider city by the north-eastern circle of the Central Line and by National Rail service through Ilford in the south.

The neighbours

Everybody commutes to London: they come from all over the world, and there’s a healthy mix of social classes here.

Interesting points

Go hike in Epping Forest, possibly Redbridge's most famous assets (besides Iron Maiden and a well-preserved Mammoth Skull). It’s 6000 acres of nature trails, a lake for watersports, country park and n

You will fall in love with

The massive amount of parks and green space in the borough, it hardly feels like you're in London at all.

The lifestyle

Suburban, multicultural and a little quiet. Rent here is affordable, but you’ll be taking a long commute to the city.

About the city

London is a city where you will never run out of things to do. The capital of England is well known for its famous, iconic landmarks such as the Big Ben, St. Paul’s cathedral, amongst thousands and thousands more. Then there’s the British cultural heritage, best displayed by its impressive architecture and the huge museums.

However, we know that students also care a lot about a city’s nightlife and atmosphere. This city never sleeps! Pubs, bars, clubs, warehouse afterparties, you name it: London has it all.

When it comes to finding a place to live in London, you know you can count on Uniplaces to help you!
