Mile End is one of the most student-friendly area of London. It’s really affordable, well connected, and has a great atmosphere on top of that. There’s plenty of cheap eats, great bars. Renting in Mile End is a little cheaper than in many other areas of the capital. Most rooms are in terraced houses or tall buildings, but you can also find some brutally-cool new flats around. Queen Mary University is in Mile End, so this is the perfect neighbourhood for Queen Mary’s students. It is also within commuting distance of the City's main universities around Bloomsbury and in the city centre, such as SOAS, University College London, City University, Birkbeck College, RADA or LSE. Mile End is connected to the city via Mile End (Central, District, Hammersmith & City), Bow Road (District, Hammersmith & City) and Stepney Green (District, Hammersmith & City).

The Genesis cinema: really cool neighbourhood cinema, worth checking out. Also has great food and drinks. Also the Palm Tree, is one of the last good Cockney pubs with pianos - recommended!
