Blackwall is a very residential neighbourhood. It is generally a bit poorer than Poplar and the Isle of Dogs, its neighbouring areas. This is a neighbourhood with two very different faces: the Docklands, where bankers and stock brokers are enjoying life by the riverside, and inland where it's a mostly working class neighbourhood. The area is best know for the Blackwall tunnel, that runs almost directly into the O2 arena. Housing in Blackwall is expensive due to its proximity to the London's banking centre in Docklands. You can expect to pay up to £200-250 per week. Most housing will be in either small terraced houses, or in modern newly built apartments. Even by London standards, it's a bit overpriced for most students, but can be really convenient for students of Greenwich University, Queen Mary University, and the University of East London, or for commuting to universities in the centre. It is well served by Blackwall or East India Stations (DLR) or by the Blackwall road tunnel straight to North Greenwich.
