Marquês de Pombal

Lisbon, Portugal

Marquês de Pombal might be one of the most well-known neighbourhood in Lisbon. It's very popular with international students. It's a ridiculously busy roundabout with a huge column in its middle. Around, you'll find a neighbourhood of tall, modern buildings - this is the business district of Lisbon, after all. It's lively (especially during the day), and a large portion of Lisbon's locals come here to work. You can find several restaurants and cafes, as well as shops and stores. Nearby, you have the huge "Eduardo Sétimo" park where you can lay down on the grass and enjoy the view over bustling Lisbon. You also have Avenida da Liberdade, with a bunch of different bars in the middle of the avenue where you can sit down and enjoy sunny afternoons. To get around Lisbon, Marquês de Pombal is probably the best neighbourhood. It has one of the most important metro station (where blue and yellow lines cross). It's also serviced by nearly 20 different buses. You can really easily get from Marquês to any corner of the city.

Interesting points

Marquês de Pombal is pretty much it's own point of interest.

You will fall in love with

The view of Lisbon from the top of the Eduardo Sétimo garden is one of the coolest views of this part of the city. Just walk all the way to the huge flag - you'll know it when you see it!

The lifestyle

During the day, lifestyle in Marquês is busy: the people coming and going wearing suits are mostly bankers and lawyers. At night, it's more relaxed, with people hanging about the Liberdade bars.

About the city

Lisbon is a laid back city that likes to eat, drink and dance.

It has all the culture and events of a European capital, but it’s a city you can enjoy at a much slower pace. Make the most of the awesome weather at the beaches, chilling at riverside cafés or sunbathing in the city’s gardens.

From enjoying a few beers in the streets, to crazy Erasmus events in bars and clubs, there are parties to go to every night.
