Avenida da Liberdade is one of the main avenues in Lisbon, and very probably the poshest one. For a student living in Lisbon, to live near Avenida da Liberdade could be a perfect way to experience the city in every single way. Avenida da Liberdade is over 1 km long and it links Praça dos Restauradores and Marquês de Pombal. It is supposed to resemble one of Paris' boulevards. It also boasts of the fanciest stores and hotels of the city. It is a perfect place to live if you move mostly by metro, for example, as it stays in the city centre and has its own metro station (Avenida - blue line) and two others near by (Restauradores - blue line, and Marquês - blue and yellow lines). Buses and taxis go up and down Avenida da Liberdade all the time.
Neighbours? You won't have a lot of them. Supposedly there are only 6 families living in Avenida da Liberdade.
Avenida's Kiosks - the only student-friendly part of this avenue. Sit down on one of the improvised bars in the middle of the avenue for a beer and good conversation.
The stuff on the shop's windows. Be advised: this romance is probably going to be a painful one as 99.99% of students will end up in tears once they see the pricetags.
Really, really fancy. Avenida da Liberdade is one of the poshest, most expensive areas of the whole country.
Lisbon is a laid back city that likes to eat, drink and dance.
It has all the culture and events of a European capital, but it’s a city you can enjoy at a much slower pace. Make the most of the awesome weather at the beaches, chilling at riverside cafés or sunbathing in the city’s gardens.
From enjoying a few beers in the streets, to crazy Erasmus events in bars and clubs, there are parties to go to every night.
