The artsy district of Brera is located just north of the Duomo, right at the centre of the city. Many of Milan’s known tourist attractions are located in the neighbourhood like Castello Sforzesco and Parco Sempione. The neighbourhood also houses the Brera Academy of Fine Arts and the Brera Art Gallery, as well as the famous Pinacoteca di Brera museum. What started as a low-rent bohemian district is now a fashionable, high-end area of the city. In Brera you can find small boutiques, art galleries and great restaurants to enjoy an aperitivo. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. Brera hosts also wonderful parks such as Orto Botanico di Brera or Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli where the Planetarium is located.
