The Universidad Autónoma de Madrid is located in the north of Madrid, in an area known as Cantoblanco - Ciudad Universitaria. It’s really easy to get there, as the C4 train and the 714 bus both stop very close by.

Other buses stopping within Cantoblanco campus are the 827, the 827A and the 828. Although the campus has several university residences, the majority of UAM students prefer to live in the centre of Madrid in areas that are well-connected to the university.

If you are going to study at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, but you are looking for central accommodation with good transport links to the campus, these are the areas you should consider:

La Latina

La Latina is one of the liveliest areas of Madrid and a very popular neighbourhood among university students. This is where the famous Rastro and La Cebada markets can be found. La Latina is THE neighbourhood to enjoy tapas and cañas in Madrid, and the popular Casa Lucio is also located here. The journey to UAM takes about 50 minutes: 9 minutes on the number 3 bus from San Francisco square to Puerta del Sol, then the C4 train to Cantoblanco campus.

Chamartin

In Chamartin you’ll find the tallest skyscrapers of Madrid, the M-30 financial district, and the Santiago Bernabeu. The area is very well connected to the rest of the capital, either by tube, train (Chamartin Station) or bus. Reaching UAM from Chamartin is very quick and easy, and it only takes 20 minutes to get there: 15 minutes on the 714 bus from the Castilla Urbano square to the Autonoma.

Malasaña

Malasaña is the neighbourhood of the Movida, the retro fashion and the bohemian lifestyle. It is full of bars, restaurants, pubs and clubs, so it is perfect if you love going out. There is no shortage of vintage clothing shops, book stores or cafes either. The journey to UAM takes 40 minutes in total: 3 minutes on the metro line 2 from Noviciado to Sol, 20 minutes on the C4 train from Sol to Cantoblanco and then a short distance by foot.
