Highbury has a population of just under 22,000 and is bordered by Finsbury Park to the north, Holloway to the west, Islington and Canonbury to the south, and Newington Green to the east.
The area is possibly most known for having been home to Arsenal’s stadium for over 90 years! However, in 2005 the football club moved to the brand new Emirates Stadium in neighbouring Holloway, and the Arsenal Stadium was partly demolished. The stadium gave way to a modern gated community called Highbury Square, and the old grass pitch got converted into a nice set of gardens - which were supposed to be open to the public.
The area is well connected to the rest of the city through the Highbury & Islington station - by tube (Victoria line), overground (North & East London lines) and train (Northern City line). You can enjoy a break from the city at the pleasant Highbury Fields park.
