Area Description
Battersea is a riverside area of London mostly known for its iconic and imposing power station. The area was typically industrial, which caused it to be targeted by the V2 German bombs during the London blitz. However, the power station stood strong and was even expanded soon after the war. There are currently several plans to redevelop it into an ultra-modern condo, after Chelsea F.C.’s plans to convert it into their new stadium were turned down.

Nowadays, the area is mostly residential, with a huge disparity of wealth within its council. Some estate blocks, built in the 1960s, still exist, yet modern apartments and converted warehouses are changing the neighbourhood’s scene. The presence of Battersea Park is also quite appealing for newcomers, which also have the added prospect of an easy commute to any part of London, due to Clapham Junction station, one of Europe’s busiest train stations.
