Notting Hill is an area of London that hardly needs any introduction, as it is arguably one of its most famous neighbourhoods. Home to the famous Notting Hill Carnival and Portobello Road, this area is highly sought after by pretty much everyone! Every Saturday, there is the Portobello Road Market, one of London’s finest street markets, where you can find some incredible antiques and vintage clothes for bargain prices. You can also find all sorts of food and vegetables for sale at the northern end of Portobello Road.
Historically, Notting Hill was quite a run-down area, but in the early 80s, the whole area began to attract a different kind of crowd and is now one of London’s best neighbourhoods. It’s also in a great location as it’s very near three of London’s best parks: Holland Park, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens.
During the Summer, specifically August, the annual Notting Hill Carnival takes place. Led by its local Caribbean community, this has been one of Europe’s most exciting street festivals since it began in 1965, so definitely worth a visit.
